DIY Edging

The following directions are for the installation of Interlock Bullet Edgers.
Wear safety glasses. Before starting, make sure to read through these instructions completely and assemble all the materials you will need for the project.
These will include:
Sand or clean granular fill Wheelbarrow, carpenter’s level, gloves, safety glasses Flat spade, hammer and chisel Concrete saw with a diamond blade (available at rental store) Ruler and/or tape measure
Create Design
Using a can of spray paint, or a long piece of garden hose, trace out the desired design for your edging on the
ground. Now measure the total length of the line created
to determine the number of edging units you will require
(each Interlock Bullet Edger measures 11.25" long).
Align Bullet Edgers
Before you begin to excavate, take your Bullet Edgers and place them along the pattern they will follow. This allows you to make any final adjustments to your design, should they be necessary.
Determine Trench Depth
Before digging, determine how deep your trench should be, keeping in mind that you will require about an inch of base material beneath the stones and stone height is 4" (you will need a trench about 5" deep if you want your stones flushwith the ground).
Excavate Trench
Using a flat spade, excavate your trench, removing any
rocks or roots that may be present.
Prepare Trench Base
Add about 1" of sand or coarse granular material along the bottom of your trench. Level off base material.
Place Bullet Edgers
Now, place the Bullet Edgers, being careful each Edger is level front to back and side to side before proceeding to the next. Add or remove base material as required.
Cutting Edgers To Size
Bullet Edgers may be cut using a concrete saw to
accommodate an abrupt change in direction or end of a run. Before cutting, be sure to read and follow
directions on saw use.
